Mecca for Science & Technology in Korea

The city of Daejeon is a leading hub in the field of R&D and higher education in Northeast Asia. Daedeok Innopolis started in 1973 as the first government funded Research Park. Daedeok Innopolis is a unique science cluster including over 70 world class research institutes with more than 20,000 researchers and many higher centers, education including Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). With regard to this infrastructure, Daejeon is known as the Silicon Valley of Asia. Daejeon has been selected as the site for the headquarters of the International Science Business Belt a large-scale project initiated and funded by the national government to nurture and develop basic sciences including life sciences as well as applied sciences into advanced technologies.

The city offers a comfortable commute for all delegates through the high-speed KTX, where the Incheon International Airport is only 2 hours away, while downtown Seoul takes 50 minutes. Expo Park & Bridge

Expo Park celebrates Daejeon’s progressive spirit. Facilities include Hanbit Tower where visitors can enjoy the scenery of the whole city and the Expo Memorial Hall and Museum which commemorate 200 years of World Expo history, and the Expo Music Water Fountain. A local landmark, the bridge offers some of the best views in Daejeon and a stunning background for photographs. Visitors will be able to enjoy water light shows in the evenings throughout October.

Yuseong Spa Zone

The hot springs of Yuseong have long been famed for their health and beauty benefits in Korea. The area has been developed into a modern resort that now offers a variety of spa services.

Daejeon O-World & Aquaworld

The theme park has one of the largest zoos in Korea as well as a large botanical garden that open in the spring and fall. Aquaworld’s walk-in cave aquarium is the newest addition to the entertainment complex.

Lake Daecheong

The lake offers panoramic views of the mountains and is a favorite with birdwatchers. Daecheong Drive is a scenic, three hour route around the lake with local farms and restaurants along the way.
